About the Author:
DiVitto is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, and now resides in the Piedmont region of North Carolina. He’s written multiple novels (some horror, some for tweens), screenplays, a short story collection, and a television comedy show based on his warped experiences working in public libraries.
He has a master’s degree in Library Science from the University of South Florida and was the former editor of the Seminole Tribe of Florida newspaper. A certified diver, DiVitto is also a papier-mache artist/instructor, creating everything from colorful sharks to 5-foot Pop-Tarts.

About the Book:
It’s spring 1979, and retired deli owner Sol Hirsch, formerly of Queens, New York, has traded in his life of corned beef and kosher pickles for the sunny climate of Miami Beach. But after a recent trip with his wife, Myrna, to visit her ailing mother in Romania, Sol’s life now teeters on the realm of the undead, courtesy of a vampire bat that noshed on his neck.
Upon returning home to the Sunshine State (definitely not an ideal place for vampires), the New York Mets diehard develops a thirst for human blood. As things worsen, Sol’s life-or-death situation may very well boil down to an evening spring training baseball game involving his beloved Mets and the New York Yankees.
Equal parts horror and humor, Sol is a blood-soaked romp through Miami Beach at the tail end of the disco decade—where the undead meet early-bird specials, and one stubborn retiree refuses to go down without a fight.

He has earned advanced degrees in liberal arts and journalism/mass communications from Johns Hopkins University and UNC-Chapel Hill. Paul has worked as a journalist for 30 years. Locally he has worked for The High Point Enterprise, the News & Record of Greensboro and the Winston-Salem Journal. Paul has been affiliated with 88.5 FM WFDD, public radio for the Piedmont and High Country, for the last 10 years. He also currently serves as an adjunct professor of the practice in Journalism at Wake Forest University.
